Therapy Services

Support that begins with
understanding your child.

Children experience the world in their own way. Our therapy services look at the whole child—their strengths, their needs, their family, and the everyday moments that matter most.

01

THERAPY SERVICE

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy helps children take part in the everyday activities that matter to them—from getting dressed and joining classroom routines to playing, regulating, and building independence.

Our OTs look beyond the behaviour to understand what a child's body may be communicating, then use purposeful play to build the skills underneath.

How it may help your child

  • Sensory processing and emotional regulation
  • Fine motor, printing, dressing, and self-care skills
  • Body awareness, coordination, and motor planning
  • Attention, routines, and everyday participation
02

THERAPY SERVICE

Speech-Language Pathology

Speech-language therapy supports the many ways children understand, express, and share what they need. Communication can include speech, gestures, pictures, devices, facial expressions, and more.

Our SLPs meet children where they are and help them find meaningful, reliable ways to connect with the people in their world.

How it may help your child

  • Speech sounds and being understood by others
  • Understanding and using language
  • Social communication and conversation
  • Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC)

THERAPY SERVICE

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps children move with greater strength, confidence, and comfort. Sessions use movement and play to support the physical skills children need at home, at school, and in the community.

Our physiotherapists build movement into activities children can enjoy, helping progress feel possible and personally meaningful.

How it may help your child

  • Balance, strength, posture, and endurance
  • Walking, running, jumping, and navigating stairs
  • Coordination and confidence in physical play
  • Mobility needs, equipment, and movement strategies

  • Anxiety, worries, and big emotions
  • Coping skills, confidence, and self-understanding
  • Behavioural and mental health concerns
  • Parent consultation and family support

The YWH Approach

Care that makes room for the whole child.

Every space at YWH is shaped through a sensory- and therapy-informed lens. We consider how a child moves, communicates, regulates, plays, learns, and connects—not as separate pieces, but as parts of one complete person.

Families bring knowledge that no assessment can replace. Your priorities help guide the goals, and recommendations are made to fit real routines—not an idealized version of family life.

01

We begin with strengths.

We notice what brings confidence, interest, and connection.

02

We look beneath the surface.

Behaviour is communication, and understanding the "why" matters.

03

We make therapy meaningful.

Goals connect to daily life, participation, and what matters to your family.
